Small enough to hold
Modern estimates place active capacity around 3–5 chunks. Short fragments keep the first step within reach, then recombine into the whole. Cowan, 2001; Miller, 1956.

An honest evidence note: research strongly supports the underlying mechanisms, and small studies offer moderate support for dictation itself. The exact fragment-stacking protocol has not yet been directly tested as a complete method.
